Director of Research, VP
Rita is responsible for research and portfolio development. She is a member of the Company’s Investment Committee, senior management team, and the Portfolio Management Group, which is responsible for research, strategy, and investment management of all client portfolios. Rita is a Principal of the firm, and also a financial advisor and key participant in the Company’s Women’s Financial Council—the Company’s team of women financial advisors. She co-hosts the Women’s Money Circle, a networking and support group for women who want to achieve understanding and mastery of their finances. Rita also directs the Company’s outreach to women who are rebuilding their financial lives following divorce or death of a spouse.
Prior to joining Brouwer & Janachowski, Rita worked at Northern Trust Company in Chicago, where she oversaw a group specializing in strategic planning, budgeting, financial reporting, and administration for mutual funds. She began her career assisting portfolio managers with equity research and financial planning with WFA Asset Management in Milwaukee. Rita has a master’s degree in Financial Analysis & Investment Management from St. Mary’s College of California summa cum laude and a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting from University of Wisconsin magna cum laude. She holds the Certified Public Accountant license with the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS™) credential and the Chartered Global Management Accountant designation. Rita is a member of the AICPA and CFA Society of San Francisco. Rita serves on the Board of Family & Child Empowerment Services San Francisco (FACES SF), benefiting parents and families in San Francisco, particularly those from underserved communities.
